PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit and a method for controlling power capable of accurately supplying power and simplifying a circuit configuration. SOLUTION: An apparatus 20 for controlling the power comprises a diode bridge 39, a Zener diode ZD10, a control circuit 28, etc., and monitors an AC voltage supplied from a commercial power source 21 during a period from the time the power source of a copier 1 is turned on to the time power is supplied to a heater lamp 13 of a unit supplied with the power. The diode bridge 39 converts the inputted AC voltage to a DC voltage. The Zener diode ZD10 generates an FW signal of a pulse waveform. The control circuit 28 recognizes its frequency based on the FW signal, and firing controls a power supply by deviating its phase to the original AC voltage supplied from the power source 21.
