PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a reading processing of image data in an image reader and an image reading method that read photographed image recorded in film, an image processing device equipped with the image reader and a program for realizing the image reading method in a computer. SOLUTION: Frames specified as the same print size are integrated by every print size and scanned with resolution according to the print size based on print size data preset by every frame of the film A. Furthermore, frames requiring re-scan are selected by changing quantity of emitted light based on the quantity of the emitted light for the respective frames calculated from quantity of film transmitted light of the film A, the frames with the same quantity of the emitted light are integrated by every quantity of the emitted light are re- scanned. In addition, position determination of the frames is performed by monitoring change of the quantity of the film transmitted light (namely, change of density of the film A). COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
