Fused pyrimidin-4-one compounds if formula (1) their enantiomers, diastereoisomers, addition salts that are useful as 5-HT2c and a2-AR inhibitors, a process for their preparation and pharmaceutical compositions containing them are disclosed, wherein: R1, R2, R3 & R4 which may be same or different, each represent H, halogen, linear or branched C1-C6alkyl, linear or branched C1-C6alkoxy, linear or branched C1-C6polyhaloalkyl, cyano, nitro or amino, or R1 with R2, R2 with R3, or R3 with R4 together with the carbon atom carrying them form an optionally substituted benzene ring; X is O or -CH3; A is linear or branched C1-C6alkylen chain; B shown as a ring with N represents an unsaturated nitrogen-containing heterocycle optionally substituted by one or two identical or different substituents selected from a halogen, linear or branched C1-C6alkyl, hydroxy, linear or branched C1-C6alkoxy, linear or branched C1-C6polyhaloalkyl, cyano, nitro or amino, optionally substituted phenyl, optionally substituted thienyl, optionally substituted furyl or optionally substituted pyrrolyl group; and R5 is linear or branched C1-C6alkyl.
