PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily discriminate the power source state of externally connected equipment of a video display device using a plasma display device or the like. SOLUTION: The video display device is provided with: a power command receiving part 22 capable of receiving a power command from a remote controller for controlling the power source state; a power source generating part 23 capable of controlling the power source of externally connected equipment 26 on the basis of information from this power command receiving part 22; a main power source state detecting part 24 for detecting the main power source state of the externally connected equipment 26; and an LED flash control part 25 for controlling the flash of an LED indicating the OFF of the main power source of the externally connected equipment 26 on the basis of information from this main power source state detecting part 24. When the user tries to turn on the video display device with the remote controller but it is not powered on, it can be presented to the user that the reason is that the main power source of the connected equipment is OFF.
