PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a full-color image forming apparatus of an external thermal fixing system, which accomplishes not only a reduction in time required for warm-up but also the stabilization of image gloss performance. SOLUTION: In the external thermal fixing system, power supply of a heat source for a heat roller is controlled so that the surface of a fixing roller is maintained at predetermined control temperature, and power supply of a heat source for a pressure roller is controlled so that the surface of a pressure roller is maintained at predetermined control temperature. When at least one of the rollers reaches the predetermined control temperature, the output of an image can be effected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
