Process for producing deoiled phosphatides

A method for producing deoiled phosphatides, not using acetone as a solvent, and comprising: a) mixing a crude phosphatide preparation with an alkane; b) separating triglycerides from phosphatides through a membrane; c) obtaining a retentate containing phospholipids following separation; d) decolorizing said retentate with bleaching earth; and e) evaporating the alkane from said retentate. Also covered are deoiled phosphatides made using this method, wherein the deoiled phosphatide is not a fractionated lecithin.
