The invention relates to a toothbrush with a handle providing possibilities of gripping and handling, as well as a better acces to the teeth and gums. According to the invention, the toothbrush comprises a handle having a head portion (40) supporting or adapted to support a fiber configuration (50), an end portion (36), a necking (37), a shoulder (38) and a neck (39) which connects the shoulder with the head, the toothbrush being characterized by the fact that the handle has a unitary dull area (41), for improving the gripping in at least two separate portions on the handle, and the ratio between the maximum width of the end portion (36) of the handle and the minimum width of the strangling (37) in a horizontal projection, is in the range of 1.1:1 up to 18.1:1, the ratio between the maximum width of the end portion (36) and the maximum width of the shoulder is between 1.1:1 up to 1.5:1, the ratio between the width of the shoulder (38) is in the range of 1.05:1 up to 1.5:1, the ratio between the maximum thickness of the end portion (36), in lateral projection, and the maximum thickness of the shoulder (38) is in the range of 1.1:1 up to 1.7:1.
