Mifepristone, a potent glucocorticoid receptor antagonist that can be used in methods for treating dementia is disclosed. A kit for treating dementia in a human including a glucocorticoid receptor antagonist and instructional material teaching the indications, dosage and schedule of administration of the glucocorticoid receptor antagonist is also disclosed.
