To control the underpressure in the suction system for textile machines, where a number of workstations have variable demands for suction, the rotary speed of the suction system drive motor is set to cover the basic suction requirements in normal operation. When the control registers an event, which could lead to an increase in suction demand, the suction drive motor speed is increased before the raised suction is delivered. The increased speed is set at a level to cover the anticipated raised need, and is maintained to keep the underpressure in force during the reported event together with any other events which may occur in between. When the last even has been completed, the suction drive motor speed is returned to the rate required to cover the basic suction requirements. |
