A method involves placing staple fibres next to each other and converting these into fabrics by adhesive bonding. Placing fibres to any required width is a continuous operation. Guiding threads are running at the edges of the wrapping surface of the primary fibres destined to form the fabric. Primary fibres bordered by guide-threads are enveloped by adhesive coated weft threads. A production. unit of unidirectional fabrics from staple fibres (S1-SN) is equipped with bobbins (01-0N) holding these and with rollers (G1-GN) guiding them. Primary fibres (S1-SN) are conveyed by a variable drive motor (M) via a fabric forming roller (H1). The design of the system allows that rollers (G1-GN) should be moved freely and independently of each other along axles (t1-tj). At a distance, that is greater, than the total width(s) formed by primary fibres (S1-SN), the motor (M) with its associated roller (H1) also actuates the movement of the guiding threads (V 1,V 2) placed at the edges of the primary fibres (S1-SN). The unit also comprises a fixing device (RS), that secures primary fibres (S1-SN) bordered by guiding threads (V 1,V 2) with weft threads (C) coated by adhesive (A). |
