The canopy (1) to shroud large areas of ground against the weather, and especially storage areas where there are parked automobiles and the like awaiting shipment, gives particular protection against hailstones. The canopy has a two-dimensional surface (2) with supports (3) around its periphery. Support cables (5) hang between the upper ends of the supports to carry the suspended canopy on them. The canopy surface is stiff against bending, using assembled prefabricated plates (4), and has openings through it at right angles to its surface plane.
