A plate shaped optical data carrier (1, 1') of about rectangular shape comprising a memory member (21) with a layer transparent for radiation arranged on top of an information recording layer on whose surface memory areas for digital information are arranged, wherein said data carrier comprises a through opening (7, 7', 7'') for a receiving means of a reading and/or writing device, characterized in that the thickness (4) of said data carrier is about 0.8 mm of standard micro chip cards or magnetic strip cards, wherein said memory member (21) has a thickness (18) between from 0.5 mm to 0.75 mm. 2. The data carrier according to claim 1, characterized in that it has the thickness (4), the length (2), and the width (3) of a standard data carrier of the chip card type. 3. The data carrier according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it comprises a supporting member (16) with a circular recess (17), wherein said memory member (21) is insertable into said support member (16) in a way resulting in essentially plane surfaces of said data carrier (1, 1'). 4. The data carrier according to any one of claims 1-3, characterized in that the depth of said recess of the support member (16) roughly corresponds to the thickness (18) of said memory member (21). 5. The data carrier according to any one of claims 1-4, characterized in that said memory member (21) has an outer diameter essentially corresponding to the width (3) of a standard data carrier of the chip card type. 6. The data carrier according to any one of claims 1-5, characterized in that it comprises a chip element (5) being readable via contact surfaces, wherein said chip element (5) is insertable into said support member (16) in a way resulting in essentially plane surfaces of said data carrier (1,1'). 7. The data carrier according to any one of claims 1-6, characterized in that an opening (7) is arranged in said data carrier (1, 1') eccentrically. 8. An adapter (8, 8') for a device of reading and/or recording digital data for arranging a data carrier therein according to any one of claims 1 to 7, in the form of a disk having a receiving space (12, 12') of rectangular shape whose inner dimensions are slightly larger than the outer dimensions of said data carrier (1, 1') with a central opening (11) being arranged coaxially with said opening (7, 7', 7'') in said data carrier (1, 1'), wherein the unit to be formed of said adapter (8, 8') and the data carrier (1, 1') is rotatable without balance error around the central axis (15) of said openings (7, 7', 11) and wherein the sum of the thickness of said data carrier (1, 1') and the thickness of said adapter (8, 8') in the receiving space (12, 12') equals the thickness of a standard data carrier of the DVD type. 9. The adapter according to claim 8, characterized in that a plate shaped optical data carrier (1, 1') is adapted for arranging the receiving space (12, 12') as of standard micro chip cards or magnetic strip cards. 10. The adapter according to claim 8 or 9, characterized in that it is shaped as a common standard DVD type carrier. 11. The adapter according to any one of claims 8-10, characterized in that it comprises two circular disks (9, 10), one of them (9) has the thickness practically equal to 0.8 mm, and the other is practically equal to 0.4 mm. 12. The adapter according to claim 11, characterized in that one circular disk (9) is provided with a rectangular-shaped cut which in conjunction with the end surface of another circular disk (10) forms the receiving space (12, 12') of the adapter. 13. The adapter according to any one of claims 8-12, characterized in that the surface formed by a transparent for radiation layer of the data carrier (1, 1') is closed the outer plane (14) of one of the circular disks (9). 14. The adapter according to any one of claims 8-10, characterized in that it is made as one-piece member by a die casting method. 15. The adapter according to any one of claims 8-14, characterized in that the receiving space (12) for the data carrier (1) is arranged eccentrically respective to its central opening (11). 16. The adapter according to claim 15, characterized in that its central opening (11) and eccentrically arranged opening (7) of the data carrier (1) have the common central axis (15) around which the unit formed of said adapter (8, 8') and the data carrier (1, 1') is rotatable without balance error. 17. The adapter according to claim 15 or 16, characterized in that the eccentrically arranged receiving space (12) is positioned within its continuous circular outer contour.
