The recuperator burner has a heater head heated by a burner unit fed with combustion gas and air, exhaust gas being fed away via a heat exchanger for heating the air fed to the burner unit. Spaced around the heater head (10) is a ring-shaped burner unit (11), a ring-shaped heat exchanger (12), a ring-shaped burner housing (13) and between the burner unit and the heater head is an exhaust gas accommodation chamber (25). Between the burner unit and the heat exchanger is an air accommodation chamber (20) for the pre-heated air and between the burner housing and the heat exchanger is an air feed chamber (17) for fresh air. The heat exchanger faces the burner unit with its air side and the burner housing with its exhaust gas side. Combustion gas (BG) is fed from below and the pre-heated air radially to the burner unit.
