<p>A GPS receiver apparatus that can periodically obtain range data and realize a reduction of power consumption without degrading performances such as positioning sensitivity and positioning speed. A synchronization holding part (6) acquires a synchronization of a carrier frequency and a phase synchronization of a C/A code relative to IF data from a frequency converting part (4), holds the acquired states, and obtains necessary data such as range data. When the range data is obtained, a switch (23) is turned off, thereby stopping a power supply to the synchronization holding part (6). Then, a control part (7) uses the obtained range data and so on to perform a positioning calculation and obtain and output positioning information indicative of the current position. Thereafter, the switch (23) is turned on, thereby activating the synchronization holding part (6) again. In this way, synchronization holding part (6) is controlled such that it performs an intermittent operation repeating stopping and starting.</p> |
