An optical sensing circuit, having a voltage to current conversion circuit to be connected between a output terminal of a light detector, which terminal outputs a voltage in accordance with the amount of detected light from a light source, and a second power supply terminal, configured to lower the voltage at the output terminal by increasing a value of current flowing from the output terminal to the second power supply terminal as the voltage at the output terminal is lowered; and a comparator circuit configured to compare the voltage at the output terminal with a reference voltage, and to output a signal in accordance with a result of the comparison.
