<p>A method is disclosed for limiting temperature increase of a treatment area during photodynamic therapy (PDT), whereby temperature sensitive materials in the form of a skin patch or compound are applied over the treatment area. The temperature sensitive materials are optically changing from substantially transmissive to at least one of substantially scattering, absorbing or reflecting at wavelengths used for the PDT, the change occurring upon surpassing a predetermined temperature. In preferred embodiments, the optical changes are reversible as the temperature of the temperature sensitive compounds decrease below a predetermined temperature.</p> |
