The invention relates to a mesostructured material having a large specific surface area which comprises nanometric particles (p) based on cerium oxide, zirconium oxide or titanium oxide, in which said particles are interconnected by means of a silica-based mineral matrix (m) containing cations of a metal M which is selected from aluminium or titanium. The invention also relates to a method of producing one such material and to the uses of said type of material, e.g. as heterogeneous redox or acid-base catalysts.
