A controller for controlling an information device for communication over a network comprising a detecting part for detecting arrival of information from an information device capable of communicating over the network, a recording part for recording the type of information arriving over the network and the form of alert of the arrival corresponding to the type, a drive part for driving an output device for making the user notice the arrival when the arrival is detected according to the from of indication, and a control part for controlling the drive part according to a predetermined procedure when the arrival is detected.
