<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inflator assembly having a small overall length and easy to fabricate. <P>SOLUTION: The inflator assembly has a pipe 44 inserted through a pipe socket 66 of a base piece 60 of a piston holder 48, pipe sockets 56 and 58 of a first 52 and a second pipe holding plate 54, and a spacer ring 74. The base piece 60, spacer ring 74 and pipe holding plates 52 and 54 are engaged between a first 72 and a second flange 76 of the pipe 44. An inflator casing 40 fitted on the tail of a duct has an inward facing flange part 40a which is engaged between the second flange 76 and a third flange 78 of the pipe 44. The second 76 and third flanges 78 are formed by deforming the pipe 44 so that its diameter is enlarged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
