PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of reducing electric power loss due to a wiring resistance between a controller and an electric motor, preventing a torque detection coil and the controller from dust and water droplet, and performing characteristic regulation of the torque detection circuit at the controller side. SOLUTION: A controller box 31 housing the controller 30 is mounted outside a housing 1a. A cylindrical space part 1d is formed at the outside near the detecting coils 13, 14 of the housing 1a, a cylindrical projection part 31a fitting the space part 1d in the controller box 31 and the projection part 31a is fitted and detachably fixed to the cylindrical space part 1d. It is recommended to interpose a sealing member 33 such as O-ring to the fitting surface. The regulation of the characteristic of the torque detection circuit is performed before fixing the controller box to the housing by connecting between connecting terminals 13a, 14a of the detection coil and the terminals on the baseboard of the controller 30 with the flexible lead wire 28.
