PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a Tatami mat surface having a natural texture and odor and preventing ticks and mold throughout a long period wherein color changes into glossy amber with passage of time and a bright color as good as new is restored by reversing the Tatami mat surface. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method is characterized by that harvested rushes are washed by a water shower, they are sufficiently soaked with water, the water is drained, bamboo vinegar with dissolved colophony is sprayed on rush surfaces, the rushes are rapidly dried, and the dried rushes are woven into the sheet shaped Tatami mat surface.
