PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an air conditioner for suppressing lowering of room temperature when performing operation for drying clothes, promoting evaporation of moisture in the clothes, and improving dehumidification performance. SOLUTION: In this control method for the air conditioner for enabling clothes drying operation for a predetermined period of time while enabling operation of cooling cycle reheating operation or warming cycle reheating operation, outside air temperature is detected in starting the clothes drying operation to determine start operation mode in accordance with the outside air temperature (ST1 or ST3). Furthermore, the number of revolutions of a compressor is determined in accordance with an absolute value of a difference between room temperature and set temperature set in advance (ST4 or ST12), and operation in the determined mode is performed during time of a second timer set in accordance with the outside air temperature. When the second timer counts up the time, warming dehumidification operation is performed until end time of clothes drying operation by warming cycle reheating operation (ST13 or ST21).
