PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feed a sheet material at a fixed through-put all the time, even when an amount of the sheet material loaded inside a sheet cassette is varied. SOLUTION: A paper sheet feed roller 2b is supported rotatably by a rotary shaft 2d in a tip of a roller support arm 2c, and a sensor flag 2g is supported oscillatably. The sensor flag 2g is brought into contact with a tip of the sheet material S in the uppermost to be arranged in a non-fed position. When the sheet material S is fed by the feed roller 2b, the sensor flag 2g shades a sheet material sensor (photo-sensor) 2h on the roller support arm 2c by the sheet material S, and start of the sheet feed is detected thereby. Detection timing in the sensor 2h is not varied by the loading amount of the sheet material, because the sensor flag 2g and the sensor 2h are arranged on the support arm 2c. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
