PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a generator system for a vehicle capable of detecting failures of a clutch installed to a pulley of an alternating current generator for a vehicle. SOLUTION: This generator system 1 for a vehicle comprises an alternating current generator 2 for a vehicle having a rotor 2a; a belt transmission device 3 transmitting a rotary driving force of an engine 1 to the rotor 2a; an outer ring 31 drive-connected with a pulley 3b on the side of the belt transmission device 3; an inner ring 32 drive-connected with a rotor shaft 2b on the side of the rotor 2a; and a clutch 30 having an action for shutting off the transmission of an inertia torque of the rotor 2a towards the belt transmission device 3. An engine control unit 7 executes a clutch failure detecting program, so as to detect failure of the clutch 30, and the failure is notified by an alarm lamp 6. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
