PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal device which can reliably prevent meandering or uneven shifting of a metal strip passing through a pair of seal rolls. SOLUTION: A pair of seal rolls 27a and 27b which are provided on the outlet side and the inlet side of a heat treatment furnace to cooperatively hold the metal strip 23 from both sides in the thickness direction and a screw jack to individually adjust the position of arrangement of both ends of the seal rolls 27a and 27b are included. When the metal strip is passed, the seal rolls 27a and 27b are not moved in the advancing/retracting direction to/from the metal strip 23, and the position of arrangement of the seal rolls 27a and 27b can be easily kept at a predetermined position according to the thickness and the dimension of the metal strip 23. In addition, even when the metal strip is passed, the seal rolls 27a and 27b are kept parallel to each other, and uneven shifting or meandering of the metal strip due to defective parallelism of the pair of seal rolls 27a and 27b can be corrected.
