PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove metallic impurities from an organosilicon polymer because it contains metallic impurities, such as Cu, Mg, Fe, and Cr, originating in the raw materials and the catalyst and the apparatuses used in its production process. SOLUTION: The method for purifying an organosilicon polymer comprises the step of dissolving the organosilicon polymer in a nonaqueous solvent and adding aqueous acid solution containing a chelating agent to the nonaqueous solution; the step of setting the resultant mixture after agitation to separate it into a water phase and an oil phase, and the step of removing the water phase.
