<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely perform a matching of one substrate with the other substrate. <P>SOLUTION: On a liquid-crystal side surface of one of substrates which are arranged opposite to each other across a liquid crystal, respective areas encircled with a plurality of parallel gate signal lines and a plurality of parallel drain signal lines crossing the gate signal lines are formed as pixel areas, and in each pixel area, a switching element which operates with a scanning signal from a gate signal line and a pixel electrode supplied with a video signal from a drain signal line through the switching element are provided; and a black matrix is formed on a liquid-crystal side surface of the other substrate opposite to the gate signal lines and a projection part or recessed part is formed on at least one of sides nearly parallel to the gate signal lines of the black matrix at a position opposite to the drain signal lines. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
