PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sensing corona to easily know the presence or absence of a corona generation at a low cost. SOLUTION: When a corona discharge 2 is generated in an electric device 1, oxygen peroxide generated by the corona discharge 2 is reacted with nitrogen in the air to generate a nitrogen oxide 3. Then, a chemical substance such as, for example, a tyrosine 4 for reacting with the nitrogen oxide to color develop is installed in the device 1. The tyrosine 4 chemically reacts (xanthoprotein reaction) with the oxide 3 generated by the corona discharge 2 to obtain a yellow reaction product 5. The product 5 exhibits the yellow color, and hence the generation of the corona can be recognized at a glance. Thus, the corona can be sensed by sensing the change of the hue of the chemical substance which develops color by reacting with the nitrogen oxide generated by the corona discharge.
