PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an inorganic phosphor excellent in a luminance property with a small particle size. SOLUTION: The method for producing an inorganic phosphor comprises: (1) in the method for producing the inorganic phosphor represented by formula 1: x<SB>l</SB>M<SB>l</SB>O-y<SB>l</SB>MgO-z<SB>l</SB>Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>(wherein M<SB>l</SB>is at least one metallic element selected from a group consisting of Ba, Sr and Ca, and a multicomponent oxide comprises 0.5≤x<SB>i</SB>≤4.5, 0≤y<SB>l</SB>≤4, and 0.5≤z<SB>l</SB>≤20), drying a precursor of the inorganic phosphor using an air stream type drier; (2) forming the precursor using a liquid phase method; (3) an average particle size of a first order particle in the precursor being not more than 1μm; and (4) in the manufacturing method of the inorganic phosphor, drying by supplying a solution containing a constitutional metallic element of the inorganic phosphor.
