PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having excellent noxious life controlling effect and provide the use of the compound for the control of noxious life. SOLUTION: The subject ester compound is a 4-methoxymethyl-2,3,5,6- tetrafluorobenzyl 2,2-dimethyl-3-(3-alkoxy-2-cyano-3-oxo-1-propenyl) cyclopropanecarboxylate. This invention further relates to a noxious life controlling agent containing the compound as an active compound and a noxious life controlling method comprising the application of an effective amount of the compound to the noxious life or the living site of the noxious life.
