PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dye composition which has excellent light resistance effect and excellent dyed finish effect. SOLUTION: This hair dye composition is characterized by comprising (a) N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-p-phenylenediamine or its salt, (b) p-toluidinediamine or its salt, and (c) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of p-aminophenol, 2-chloro-p-phenylenediamine, p-amino-o-cresol, m-aminophenol, resorcinol, p-methylaminophenol, 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamine, 2-nitro-p- phenylenediamine, picramic acid, 5-(2-hydroxyethylamino)-2-methylphenol, 1- amino-4-methylanthraquinone, 1,4-diaminoanthraquinone, and their salts.
