PROCEDURE ESTABLISHING COEFFICIENT OF KINETIC FRICTION OF MATERIALS

FIELD: friction tests of materials. SUBSTANCE: procedure establishing coefficient of kinetic friction of materials consists in measurement of period of harmonic vibrations of bar homogeneous in length and supported by two discs with same geometrical dimensions, rotating with same angular speed in opposite directions. Average deviation of center of gravity of bar from axis equidistant from centers of discs is measured in addition and coefficients of friction for each pair of materials in system " disc-bar " is determined by computation.
