<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the optical path of an infrared sensor switchable for allowing data communication with a plurality of external units by a single infrared sensor. <P>SOLUTION: Communication windows 21, 22 facing a plurality of directions are formed in an exterior case 12 of the printer 11. A built-in optical data communication unit for optical data communication with an external unit via the communication windows 21, 22 is provide. A communication direction changeover means 18 for changing over the optical path of the optical data communication unit is provided. The communication direction changeover means 18 is provided with a changeover member 17 with a projection part 15 elongating to one direction for rotating the changeover means 18 such that the elongation direction of the projection part 16 is the direction for receiving infrared data taken in from the communication windows by the infrared sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
