<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately restrict a passenger by a seat belt. <P>SOLUTION: The passenger restriction system has an XY two-dimensional plane map in which a speed reduction degree (negative acceleration) in a forward/rearward direction of a vehicle is set to +Y axis; an acceleration in the forward/rearward direction of the vehicle is set to -Y axis; an acceleration in a right direction of the vehicle is set to +X axis; and an acceleration in a left direction of the vehicle is set to -X axis respectively. In a first quadrant and a second quadrant, an operation determination threshold line of semi- ellipse or polygon making +X axis intercept as a (a is an optional value); -X axis intercept as -a; and +Y axis intercept as +b (b is an optional value provided that b<a) is set. In the case where a point on the map determined by an acceleration detection value in the forward/rearward direction of the vehicle and an acceleration detection value in a right/left direction of the vehicle at the time of speed reduction of the vehicle is at the outside of a range surrounded by the operation determination threshold line of the semi-ellipse or polygon and the X axis, a tension is imparted to a seat belt. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
