PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make correctable a scanning line curvature and/or speed uniformity by effectively suppressing deformation of a resin-made imaging element, included in a scanning imaging optical system, due to temperature change. SOLUTION: An optical scanner which optically scans a surface to be scanned corresponding to one or more light sources with a light spot formed on the surface to be scanned by converging the luminous flux from the light sources deflected by an optical deflecting scanning means has shape holding means 1621 and 1631 which prevent or reduce shape variation of one or more resin- made imaging elements included in the scanning imaging optical system in the vertical scanning direction, a liquid crystal deflecting element means which is provided on the optical path from the light sources to the scanned surface and adjusts the position of the light spot on the surface to be scanned in the horizontal and/or the vertical scanning direction, and a control means which controls the liquid crystal deflecting element means.
