PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a woven or knitted fabric, by which the woven or knitted fabric which contains the blended yarns of polyester highly oriented un-drawn fibers with drawn fibers and has a soft and bulky peculiar touch is efficiently obtained at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for treating the woven or knitted fabric comprises treating the woven or knitted fabric at least containing the blended yarns of polyester highly oriented un-drawn fibers A having a birefringence of 30×10-3to 60×10-3and specific gravity of 1.34 to 1.36 g/cm3with polyester drawn fibers B having a boiling water shrinkage percent of≥10% with a supercritical fluid or semi-critical fluid consisting mainly of carbon dioxide at 20 to 100°C at a pressure of 7 to 25 MPa.
