FOAMED/POROUS METAL AND MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for manufacturing high-strength foamed/ porous metal. SOLUTION: Figure (a) is an image figure of the structure of the foamed/ porous metal 18 and shows that a large number of bubbles 21 of gaseous carbon dioxide are contained in a base material 19 composed of aluminum and shells 22 composed of aluminum oxide exist in the boundaries between the bubbles 21 and the base material 19. Accordingly, the shells 22 are composed of Al2O3as ceramics and has tensile strength higher than that of the base material (aluminum). COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
