PURPOSE: A trick play method in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to prevent a file system of a hard disk from getting complicated by not generating a search information file to broadcasting programs recorded on a hard disk. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer reads broadcast program data stored in a hard disk at a general speed(S10). In the case that a user requests a trick play such as a fast play, the microcomputer increases data read speed(S11-S12). The microcomputer searches a start position of I-picture(Intra picture) data by searching and confirming picture start code information and picture coding type information from I-picture search information(S13). A video decoder intermittently decodes only the I-picture data according to the requested multiple speed(S14). In the case that the user requests a low speed play, the microcomputer decreases data read speed(S20-S21). The microcomputer searches a start position of I-picture data by searching and confirming picture start code information and picture coding type information from I-picture search information(S22). The video decoder intermittently decodes only the I-picture data according to the requested multiple speed(S23).
