<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel reforming device which can starts in a short time even when employing a liquid fuel and easily miniaturized, to provide a fuel treating device using the fuel reforming device and a starting method for the fuel treating device. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel treating device is provided with an over-rich combustion burner 12 where a high-temperature gas is generated by burning the fuel with the fuel-air ratio of ≥1, an evaporating and heating device 14 where a mixed raw material of the fuel and water is evaporated and heated to a desired temperature with the generated high-temperature gas, a reformer 16 which is arranged in the downstream side of the evaporating and heating device and where the mixed raw material is reformed to a hydrogen containing gas by applying a packed CO-removing catalyst, and a CO-remover 18 which is arranged in the downstream side of the reformer and where carbon monoxide is selectively removed with a packed CO-removing catalyst. The reformer 16 and the CO-remover 18 are integrally formed and have heat transfer surfaces 16a, 18a which indirectly heat the reforming catalyst and the CO-removing catalyst with the mixed raw material poured in. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
