<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semitransmission type liquid crystal display device, which has its display quality improved more by improving the use efficiency of light from a back light, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: In the semitransmission type liquid crystal display device equipped with a semitransmission type liquid crystal panel 20 having a plurality of pixels each comprising a transmission part 33 transmitting the light from the back light 10 and a nontransmission part 36 reflecting external light, an irregular reflection layer 30 which directs the light from the back light 10 to the transmission part 33 is provided at the nontransmission part 36.
