PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire which can improve the dry steering stability without sacrificing the wet performance. SOLUTION: Circumferential main grooves 14, inclined grooves 16 and sub inclined grooves 18 are formed in a tread 12 in a directional pattern of high wet performance. Recessed parts 24 and 36 slender and triangular in plan view are arranged in a block 20 in the vicinity of a 1/4 point 30. The depth of the recessed part 24 and the recessed part 36 is gradually increased toward a top point located at the block edge. The recessed parts 24 and 36 play a role of the circumferential main grooves and improve the wet performance. Since the depth of the recessed parts 24 and 36 is gradually increased toward the top point from the tread, the block rigidity can be considerably increased compared with a conventional block having the circumferential main groove of a constant groove depth, and the steering stability can be considerably increased. Since the inclined grooves 16 are not cut by the circumferential main grooves, water in a center area 12C of the tread can be efficiently discharged to a tread end 12E. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
