PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for molding containing a nucleating agent suitable for accelerating the crystallization of a crystallizable polyester, especially a biodegradable polyester; and to provide a molded item containing the resin composition improved in crystallizability. SOLUTION: This resin composition is prepared by adding (a) a cyclic compound having at least one C=O group and at least one functional group selected from among NH, S, and O or (b) a mixture comprising a cyclic compound having at least one C=O group and a cyclic compound having at least one functional group selected from among NH, S, and O to a crystallizable polyester.
