PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-up display device (HUD) causing no interception of a visual field of a driver, and capable of preventing damages of the device by the direct sunlight. SOLUTION: A display image is projected by an HUD display 2 controlled in driving by a control ECU 1, and is reflected by a combiner-processed part of an inside surface of front glass 5, and is displayed to the driver. A shutter 4 controlled in opening-closing by the control ECU 1 is arranged for covering a TFT liquid crystal display panel 3 of the HUD display 2, and is opened-closed according to the state of use of the HUD. That is, the shutter is put in a closing state at unused time, and shields the external light, particularly, the direct sunlight, and prevents damages of the optical device. The HUD display 2, the shutter 4, the control ECU 1, and a power source part 6 for driving these members are dispersively arranged in a narrow space inside an instrument panel 9 to secure the visual field of the driver in an instrument panel outside surface part.
