Sound absorber insert comprises a molded element (10) for inserting in an annular space between an exhaust pipe and a silencer and consisting of a mixture of glass fiber thread contained within an at least partly dimensionally stable sleeve element (12). The molded element is provided with elements influencing temperature distribution. Preferred Features: The sound absorber insert is made of aluminum. The temperature distribution-influencing elements are heat-conducting elements or shielding elements. Wire is inserted in the molded element as the temperature distribution-influencing elements. The temperature distribution-influencing elements are inserted in the form of a mesh, a woven mat forming a sleeve element, or a metal-coated textile sheet structure.
