<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording method capable of recording a high density image at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: In the ink jet recording method, an ink jet recording ink composition is prepared by dissolving and/or dispersing at least one kind of a dye represented by formula (1) (wherein, A is a five-membered heterocyclic group, B<SP>1</SP>and B<SP>2</SP>are each = CR<SP>1</SP>- or -CR<SP>2</SP>= or either one of them is a nitrogen atom and the other one of them is = CR<SP>1</SP>- or -CR<SP>2</SP>=, R<SP>5</SP>and R<SP>6</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or the like and G, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group, a heterocyclic group or the like) in an aqueous medium.
