<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of restraining the spring of the trailing edge of a recording medium from occurring and making the occurrence of peeling discharge caused by the spring of the trailing edge as little as possible. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 50 controls the rotating speed of a fixing motor M2 so as to form a loop on the recording medium P until timing t1 when loop control is stopped in a period from the point of time t0 when the trailing edge of the medium P passes through a final transfer nip part T1d until the trailing edge of the medium P reaches a separation position (s), and controls so that the rotating speed of the motor M2 may be held at R2 when the timing t1 comes. Thus, the carrying speed (v) of the fixing nip part is held at the carrying speed v2 higher than the recording medium carrying speed v0 of a transfer belt 43. The loop amount of the medium P between the separation position (s) of the belt 43 and the fixing nip part is gradually reduced, and the loop of the medium P is eliminated or kept very small at the point of time t2 when the trailing edge of the medium P reaches the separation position (s). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
