PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine surely conducting a pipe-jacking construction particularly even in an alternate-layer ground regarding the shield machine used for a pipe jacking method. SOLUTION: In the shield machine, an external cylinder covering a shield machine body is formed in the double structure of slidable inner shell and outer shell, the whole circular face plate in approximately the same size as the outside diameter of the inner shell is installed rotatably to a facing surface on the front of the shield machine while a pair of rod-shaped rotary cutters are mounted rotatably at places opposed at the center of the face plate without forming a space among the rotary cutters and the face plate at the circumferential place of the front of the face plate, and the major axes of the opposed rotary cutters are fitted in the mutually orthogonal directions. In the shield machine, circular or rectangular inspection holes are formed to the face plate and the circumferential places of a partition wall set up at a regular interval to the rear of the face plate.
