PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium rewritable by irradiation with light and an image forming method in which image formation time is shortened and the developed color retentivity of a formed image is improved and to further provide an image display medium and an image forming method giving a high definition and high quality color image. SOLUTION: An image display medium is obtained by forming a photosensitive layer containing a photochromic compound and an electron accepting compound on a supporting substrate, wherein the photochromic compound is a fulgide compound and the electron accepting compound is a compound selected from the group comprising phosphonic acid compounds, aliphatic carboxylic acid compounds and phenol compounds, each of which has a≥12C aliphatic group.
