PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger capable of preventing steam and drain from being discharged to the outside even when large amounts of steam and drain flow thereinto at high speeds. SOLUTION: A heat exchanging container 1 comprises a steam feed port 2 and a cylindrical atmosphere release tube 5. Cooling fluid feed nozzles 9, 11, 12 and 14 and a first mixedly passing member 6 are installed in the heat exchanging container 1. A third mixedly passing member 8 is installed at the center part of the atmosphere release tube 5. A final steam arresting member 16 is fitted to the upper end outlet part of the atmosphere release tube 5. For the steam and noncondensed gas flowing from the steam feed port 2 therein, the steam is condensed by the first mixedly passing member 6 and a second mixedly passing member 7, gas-liquid are separated from each other by a gas- liquid separating member 15, the steam is further condensed by a third mixedly passing member 8, and finally the steam is arrested by the mesh member 26 of the final steam arresting member 16 and only noncondensed gas is discharged from an outlet opening 28.
