PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating used edible oils which are recovered as valuable raw materials for a methyl ester fuel coming to a diesel engine fuel to enhance the utilization value without disposing of the used edible oil to be generated in a small-scale food processing site such as the ordinary household and restaurants as the waste, and prevents the environmental deterioration. SOLUTION: A predetermined amount of used edible oils 17 is stored in a primary storage quantity measuring tank 24 having a filter 26 arranged at the site, then is mixed together with an alkali catalyst in an amount which balances the predetermined amount of the stored edible oils 17 in the primary storage quantity measuring tank 24 or a separately placed reaction tank 33, and is left to stand to decompose the edible oils into a methyl ester and glycerin, and thus the methyl ester which comes to a fuel is separately produced in each small-scale food processing site.
